On Friday 14th June Woodford held a special Erev Shabbat service inspired by the ‘Shabbat Resouled’ services regularly held at Finchley Progressive Synagogue, which we have occasionally hosted by Woodford. However, this time round the musicians and singers mostly came from our own community – making their debut performance as ‘Woodford Resouled’.
A packed audience – we think close to a hundred people were there – came to the service, many of them singing along and (in some cases) dancing in the aisles. After the service, everyone was invited to upstairs to a bring and share biegal supper. This provided an opportunity for everyone, from across the generations, to socialise together – whilst keeping the happy atmosphere alive and buzzing.
Special thanks to Dean Staker from ‘Shabbat Resouled, who guided our musicians and singers through the rehearsals and at the service.
