Member Funerals

Friday 6th June, the funeral Sydney Myers, which is taking place at 12.45pm at Forest Park.  There will be some council members and other WLS members who may wish to attend both funerals. Please could you liaise with Jonny Hurst as there may be a need for some of us to car share.

Friday 6th June, the funeral for Nick Harris is now confirmed and will take place this afternoon at 2.45pm at Cheshunt cemetery.  There will be four nights of shiva prayers: Sunday to Wednesday inclusive, which will be held at the home of Martin and Marcia Wohlman, 86 Campbell Avenue, Barkingside, IG6 1EB at 8pm.

WLS Services This Week

Friday 6th June: Our Erev Shabbat is at the usual time of 8:00 pm and will be led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi – it is followed by a discussion on Why does Liberal Judaism believe in Progressive Revelation?

Saturday 7th JuneSt Anne’s Church Is Coming to Woodford Liberal Synagogue.  A special Families and All Generations morning to mark Shavuot, it will include cheder activities and a service to celebrate the giving of the Torah and Whit Sunday’s role in Christianity.  A very special morning for all our cheder children and their extended families, plus all members of our synagogue community, to meet, chat, learn, play and pray with the community of St. Anne’s Church.  Concluding with kiddush and a shared bring-and-share buffet lunch at 12:15pm.  The service, with a Torah reading from Bereishit 33:1-17, it’s at the usual time of 10:30 am and will led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi


Saturday 7th June: Cheder returns at the usual time of 10:20 am – welcome back!

WLS Summer Fayre

Sunday 8th June 12:00 – 4:00 pm – this is for all ages so please bring your family and all your friends for what should be a great afternoon out in the sunshine – full details at:

This year we having a Summer Fayre Bake Off – please bake a cake and bring it to the Summer Fayre and you could be the winner of the coveted Summer Fayre Bake Off Spoons of Glory!  Do let us know if you are entering – so we have enough space to display all the cakes and we advise Rabbi Richard how many delicious cakes he has to taste! The spring/summer ‘LAW’ programme returns with more Literature of the Rabbis sessions on Tuesday 10th June 7:15 pm and Prayer Book Hebrew on Wednesday 11th June at 7:30 pm – see theLAW page for more details
