WLS Summer Fayre

This year we having a Summer Fayre Bake Off – please bake a cake and bring it to the Summer Fayre and you could be the winner of the coveted Summer Fayre Bake Off Spoons of Glory!  Do let us know if you are entering – so we have enough space to display all the cakes and we advise Rabbi Richard how many delicious cakes he has to taste! WLS Services This Week

Friday 30th May: Our Erev Shabbat is at the usual time of 8:00 pm and will be led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi

Saturday 31st May: Our Shabbat morning service, with a Torah reading from Bereishit 32:4-33, is at the usual time of 10:30 am and will led by Rabbi Richard Jacobi

Cheder

Saturday 31st May: There is no Cheder this week as it is half-term – the next Cheder session is on Saturday 7th June.

Upcoming WLS Events

Sunday 1st June at 10:00 am: We’re Going To St Anne’s Church, 200 Larkshall Road, E4 6NP.  An opportunity for all of us to join a Parish service for Whitsun; learn about the birth of the Christian Church and the changing meaning of Shavuot.  This is intended for adults who wish to learn more about aspects of Christianity, and Judaism too!

Tuesday 3rd June at 8:00 pm: Tikkun Leil Shavuot On the theme of Creation, Evolution and Creationism come along to celebrate the Giving of the Torah and stay to hear Professor Adrian Lister discuss the question What concept of creation can we still have in light of modern sciences?

Saturday 7th June at 10:20 am: St Anne’s Church Is Coming to Synagogue. A special Families and All Generations morning to mark Shavuot, will include cheder activities and a service to celebrate the giving of the Torah and Whit Sunday’s role in Christianity. A very special morning for all our cheder children and their extended families, plus all of our  synagogue community, to meet, chat, learn, play and pray with the community of St. Anne’s Church.  Concluding with kiddush and a shared bring-and-share buffet lunch at 12:15pm.

Learning At Woodford: The spring/summer ‘LAW’ programme is taking a break for Tikkun Leil Shavuot but returns for more Literature of the Rabbis sessions on Tuesday 10th June – the Prayer Book Hebrew sessions continue on Wednesday evenings – see the LAW page for more details

LJ Sunday Seminars:

Sunday 29th June: A new series of LJ Sunday Seminars starts with Tending The Flock – deals with caring and welfare issues – see this flyer for more information and how to book your place.

Sunday 20th July: The next Sunday Seminar will explore music – for details will follow later.
